My story tells others what shaped me into the person that I am today. Growing up in a lower-middle-class family in a small tribal town in India, I lacked access to clean water, sanitation, and often electricity. Despite poor living conditions and financial limitations, I am grateful for the primary education I received; it allowed me to realize that I can improve my life outcomes, and those of my family, through better employment and civic engagement as a result of educational attainment.
My mother, Ambica, taught me the importance of education, and my aunt, Saraswathi, showed me that the simple act of recognizing and supporting the potential in another human being will make our world a better place to live. I was very lucky that my aunt and her husband saw fit to sponsor me after my high school (10th grade) at one of the finest junior colleges in India. It was her support that opened doors to opportunities for me. Her support never wavered, and she even encouraged my desire to transfer internationally to Texas A&M University where I could better utilize my strengths and talents and complete my baccalaureate studies. My parents’ love is a priceless component to my ability to pursue my academic and career dreams, but it was my aunt’s encouragement, mentoring, and financial sacrifice that allowed my goals to be within my grasp.
Everything and everyone are interconnected, and all are evolving and advancing (or worse falling behind) as quickly in our global community as do our cell phones, tablets, and other technology. My life experiences, academic training and career path have been interconnected to bring me to the place I am today. Initially, I chose an engineering path of study with the intent to help individuals attain better life outcomes by connecting them to technology. But during my baccalaureate studies, I uncovered my strengths and talents. It was obvious to me that I needed to adapt an academic and career path that better suited my strengths and talents as well as fueled my passion. So, I decided to pursue graduate studies in public administration with a focus on higher education policy and administration. As a higher education, nonprofit, and organization development practitioner, I strive to empower individuals to attain better life outcomes by supporting their educational attainment.
My life story exemplifies how educational attainment can empower individuals to improve their lives; and it also demonstrates that even those who have talent, drive, and passion can only go so far unless they also have access to opportunities. Thus, since I first realized the positive impact that educational attainment could have on my life, it has been my mission to help others to do the same. My journey and the support I have received are catalysts for my desire to empower individuals, especially from historically excluded and marginalized backgrounds, to achieve basic and better life outcomes through educational attainment. I am fortunate to have received incredible educational opportunities and I strive to facilitate the same for others.

My Hobbies
I enjoy gardening, cooking, painting, dancing, travelling, and documenting my life and learning experiences. My favorite hobby is drawing and painting. Having been passionate about drawing and painting since childhood, I find that it works in perfect harmony with my regular schedule. It enables me to blend my talent with my imagination and innermost feelings.
I keep experimenting with different genres of painting like fusing the traditional with the modern, enabling a smooth connectivity between traditional art and modern art. This fusion will surely expose the posterity to tradition and help conserve culture, while it enables me to change with the times.
